Online biological sample preparation with restricted access hybrid carbon nanotubes for determination of anti-smoking drugs

Henrique Dipe de Faria et al.

Summary: Untreated samples were directly injected into a column switching system, an online solid-phase extraction (SPE) method, using a novel type of restricted access material called restricted access hybrid carbon nanotubes (RAHCNTs), coupled to ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS). RAHCNTs showed improved performance compared to its predecessor (Restricted Access Carbon Nanotubes-RACNTs) for analyzing organic compounds, thanks to their greater adsorption capacity and higher stability in various conditions. The developed method demonstrated high extraction recovery, accuracy, and precision, making it promising for therapeutic monitoring and personalized strategies in antismoking treatment.

Fabrication of environmentally sensitive amidoxime hydrogel for extraction of uranium (VI) from an aqueous solution

Xiaoyang Liu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the removal efficiency of U(VI) using an environmentally sensitive amidoxime hydrogel (AO-NIAMP). The results showed that AO-NIAMP is sensitive to temperature and pH, has a high adsorption capacity for uranium, and can stably remove multiple interfering metal ions. The primary mechanisms of U(VI) removal by AO-NIAMP are chelation of functional groups and electrostatic interactions.
