The physiochemical alteration of flax fibers structuring components after different scouring and bleaching treatments

Jinhua Ding et al.

Summary: The specific chemical properties of flax fibers through various scouring and bleaching procedures were reviewed, revealing the relationships with mechanical and morphological characteristics. The unbleached AA treatment significantly improved scouring efficiency and delignification was found to be more crucial on fiber properties than hemicellulose removal. This study provides insight into the hydrolysis behavior of hemicellulose and offers a basis for developing models to predict fiber properties.

Flexural strength of hybrid composite resin epoxy reinforced stinging nettle fiber with silane chemical treatment

Iketut Suarsana et al.

Summary: Stinging nettle fiber can be used as a substitute for reinforcing epoxy resin composite materials, and the study shows that the composition ratio and silane treatment significantly affect the flexural strength. Hybrid composite with 20% fiber and 9% silane treatment exhibited the highest flexural strength.
