Structural definition of terrestrial chondroitin sulfate of various origin and repeatability of the production process

Nicola Volpi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the structure, physicochemical characteristics and purity of chondroitin sulfate (CS) samples obtained from different biological sources. The results showed that highly pure CS products with consistent structure and characteristics could be obtained through standardized manufacturing processes. Different origin sources of CS exhibited variations in molecular weight, sulfate groups ratio, and the presence of co-purified molecules.

A convenient strategy to synthesize highly tunable gelatin methacryloyl with very low gelation temperature

Laura Di Muzio et al.

Summary: This study presents an alternative and convenient method for synthesizing and characterizing GelMA under homogeneous single-phase reaction conditions. The methacrylation specifically targets the ε-amino groups of lysine and hydroxylysine, resulting in complete functionalization. The rheological properties of GelMA synthesized using this optimized reaction procedure exhibit significant differences in gelation temperature compared to GelMA obtained through traditional heterogeneous reaction conditions, showing potential for new applications in the biomedical field.
