Flow characteristics in a pilot-scale circulating fluidized bed with high solids flux up to 1800 kg/m2 s

Chengxiu Wang et al.

Summary: A comprehensive study on hydrodynamics was conducted in a pilot circulating fluidized bed riser with high solids flux and gas velocity. The results showed that solids holdup accounted for 20-30% of the riser with such high solids flux. As the solids flux increased to 1800 kg/m(2)s, both solids holdup and particle velocity became more uniform, indicating reduced back-mixing. Compared to the circulating turbulent fluidized bed, the riser reactor with high solids flux exhibited good gas-solids contact.
