Pamidronate Therapy Increases Trabecular Bone Complexity of Mandibular Condyles in Individuals with Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Leticia L. Quirino Pantoja et al.

Summary: This study investigated the trabecular bone pattern of condyles in patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), finding significant differences in the mandibular condyle bone structure compared to healthy controls. The study also suggested that pamidronate treatment may have a positive effect on the condyle trabecular bone in these patients, with Fractal Dimension values influenced by the length of cyclic pamidronate treatment and age at treatment onset.

A new case of osteogenesis imperfecta type VIII and retinal detachment

Liliane Todeschini de Souza et al.

Summary: OI type VIII is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the P3H1 gene, leading to bone fragility and retinal detachment, suggesting patients should undergo careful fundoscopic examination.

Missing and unerupted teeth in osteogenesis imperfecta

Doaa Taqi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of missing and unerupted teeth in OI patients, finding that these abnormalities are related to clinical phenotype, genetic variant type, and treatment methods. The findings suggest that the occurrence of missing and unerupted teeth is associated with the nature of collagen variants and the type of OI.

Osteogenesis imperfecta tooth level phenotype analysis: Cross-sectional study

Doaa Taqi et al.

Summary: The study found that dental anomalies in Osteogenesis imperfecta patients vary with different genetic variants and patient age, with genetic variants being better predictors of dental phenotype. Tooth discoloration may be related to enamel thickness, while pulp obliteration is associated with patient age and malocclusion, and taurodontism is possibly linked to delayed pulpal maturation.
