The Halophyte Halostachys caspica AP2/ERF Transcription Factor HcTOE3 Positively Regulates Freezing Tolerance in Arabidopsis

Fangliu Yin et al.

Summary: The AP2 and ERF gene family plays a critical role in plant development, stress response, and evolution. HcTOE3, a cold-regulated transcription factor gene, positively regulates freezing stress and has the potential to improve plant freezing tolerance. Overexpressing HcTOE3 enhances freezing tolerance in transgenic plants by up-regulating the expression of cold responsive genes and abscisic acid signal transduction pathway genes.

Flooding or drought which one is more offensive on pepper physiology and growth?

Zeinab Masoumi et al.

Summary: Extremes in water usage in agriculture, such as drought and flooding, have detrimental effects on the physiological and growth aspects of plants, influencing gene expression related to water absorption. The duration and type of stress exposure play a significant role in these effects. The study on Capsicum annuum L. revealed that both gradual and shock stress of drought and flooding negatively impacted the growth and physiological parameters of peppers. Higher ABA content was observed in shock stress, while PIP1 expression showed different effects in leaf and root under flooding conditions. Gradual stress periods induced an increase in proline and phenol content, aiding in osmotic adjustment, while shock stress activated defense systems and gene expression for adaptation when faced with stress.

Physiological and Expressional Regulation on Photosynthesis, Starch and Sucrose Metabolism Response to Waterlogging Stress in Peanut

Ruier Zeng et al.

Summary: Waterlogging stress led to an increase in stem and leaf photosynthate accumulation in peanut plants, resulting in a decrease in the ratio of pod dry weight to total dry weight and yield, mainly due to an imbalance in the source-sink relationship.

Quantitative Proteomics and Relative Enzymatic Activities Reveal Different Mechanisms in Two Peanut Cultivars (Arachis hypogaea L.) Under Waterlogging Conditions

Dengwang Liu et al.

Summary: This study compared two different peanut cultivars with varying waterlogging tolerance and revealed the molecular mechanism underlying the better waterlogging tolerance of XH08 compared to ZH4 at the protein level. XH08 could utilize various carbon sources to obtain energy, alleviating the accumulation of toxic substances under waterlogging stress and promoting growth. This provides important insights for future molecular breeding to enhance peanut waterlogging tolerance.
