Prevalence of major morbidities and outcome of all hospitalized neonates. A retrospective cohort study of Huai'an neonatal survivals

Yaling Xu et al.

Summary: This study used data from neonatal care in Huai'an to comprehensively analyze the prevalence, mortality, and causal relationships of neonatal morbidity. The study found that the prevalence and case-fatality rate of major diseases were high, and there was a significant correlation between perinatal and neonatal morbidities and mortality. Premature and low birthweight infants had higher mortality rates.

Perinatal Risks of Neonatal and Infant Mortalities in a Sub-provincial Region of China: A Livebirth Population-based Cohort Study

Yaling Xu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the hospitalization rate, neonatal and infant mortality rates, and perinatal risks in a developing region in eastern China. The results showed that preterm birth and low birth weight were major causes of neonatal and infant deaths, and perinatal factors and low birth weight were strongly associated with early- and late-neonatal deaths.

A birth population-based survey of preterm morbidity and mortality by gestational age

Xiaojing Guo et al.

Summary: This study characterized the outcome of preterm births and hospitalized preterm infants in Huai'an, China in 2015. The results showed that risk factors for mortality included low birth weight, gestational age, amniotic fluid contamination, Apgar score less than 7, and birth defects. Further research is needed to validate the concept and protocol for preventing preterm birth.
