MYB transcription factor family in sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.): genome-wide investigation, evolution, structure, characterization and expression patterns

Irfan Ali Sabir et al.

Summary: This study identified and analyzed 69 MYB genes in the sweet cherry genome, providing insights into their evolution, expansion complexity, and functionality. The MYB genes were found to play important roles in various aspects of sweet cherry development, metabolism, defense, differentiation, and stress response. Additionally, they may also be involved in bud dormancy. The findings highlight the potential of MYB genes as candidates for dormancy manipulation in sweet cherry.

Functional Study of BpPP2C1 Revealed Its Role in Salt Stress in Betula platyphylla

Baoyue Xing et al.

Summary: The PP2C protein phosphatase family is one of the largest gene families in the plant genome, involved in regulating abiotic stress. The BpPP2C1 gene in Betula platyphylla is highly up-regulated under salt stress, with overexpression showing increased salt tolerance and knockout plants being sensitive to salt stress. Transcriptome analysis revealed differentially expressed genes related to salt stress pathways in BpPP2C1 transgenic lines.

A conserved allosteric element controls specificity and activity of functionally divergent PP2C phosphatases from Bacillus subtilis

Kristin Ho et al.

Summary: This study addresses the mechanism by which protein phosphatase activity targets specific substrates under the correct conditions. The research findings suggest that PP2C family of phosphatases integrate substrate recognition with activating signals to control metal-cofactor binding and substrate dephosphorylation, providing a mechanism for producing specific responses by acting on the correct substrates.

Genome-wide Identification and Evolution of the PP2C Gene Family in Eight Rosaceae Species and Expression Analysis Under Stress in Pyrus bretschneideri

Guoming Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, 719 putative PP2C genes were identified in eight Rosaceae species, including 118 in Chinese white pear. Phylogenetic analysis of Chinese white pear's PbrPP2C genes revealed expansion of the family through WGD and DSD, while also showing organ-specific functions. QRT-PCR validation indicated a role in ABA-mediated response to abiotic stress for nine PbrPP2C genes, with five functioning in the nucleus.

Identification and characterization of 5 walnut MYB genes in response to drought stress involved in ABA signaling

Dapei Li et al.

Summary: This study identified 5 MYB genes from walnut, confirming their expression patterns in different tissues and response to drought and ABA stresses. The MYB genes were found to play a vital role in plant biological processes and drought as well as ABA stress response. Moreover, the genes were shown to be upregulated or downregulated significantly under drought and ABA stresses, suggesting their potential as ABA-dependent drought response transcription factors in plants.
