Characteristics of Metals Leached from Waste Printed Circuit Boards Using Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

Jinsung An

Summary: This study found that the iron-oxidizing bacteria A. ferrooxidans can increase the leached concentration of copper from PCBs and assist in copper recovery, while also inhibiting the leached concentration of lead from PCBs and assisting in the formation of precipitates. This indicates that A. ferrooxidans can be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to leach valuable metals from PCBs.
