Overexpression of the ThTPS gene enhanced salt and osmotic stress tolerance in Tamarix hispida

Peilong Wang et al.

Summary: Trehalose is a non-reducing disaccharide that enhances the resistance of organisms to various abiotic stresses. This study found that the ThTPS gene can respond to abiotic stress in T. hispida, such as salt and drought, and overexpression of this gene significantly improves salt and osmotic tolerance.

Trehalose Alleviated Salt Stress in Tomato by Regulating ROS Metabolism, Photosynthesis, Osmolyte Synthesis, and Trehalose Metabolic Pathways

Yan Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of exogenous trehalose-induced salt tolerance in tomato plants through hydroponic test. The results showed that trehalose significantly improved plant growth and physiology, increased osmotic substances, and elevated trehalose metabolism in response to saline conditions. Additionally, trehalose mitigated the accumulation of reactive oxygen species and increased antioxidant enzyme activities to counteract salt stress.

Impact of exogenously applied trehalose on leaf biochemistry, achene yield and oil composition of sunflower under drought stress

Firdos Kosar et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that external application of trehalose can significantly reduce relative membrane permeability and hydrogen peroxide accumulation, while also helping to improve plant growth, oxidative defense system, yield, and oil composition under water-limited conditions.

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) gene family in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)

Yuanyuan Dan et al.

Summary: In this study, the cucumber TPS family was comprehensively analyzed using bioinformatics tools, revealing seven CsTPS genes with different physicochemical properties, domains, gene structures, evolutionary relationships, gene locations, cis-acting elements and expression patterns. The TPS genes in cucumber play significant roles in growth, development, and stress response, with specific features and evolutionary relationships shared with other plant species such as Arabidopsis and rice.

Identification of the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase gene family in Medicago truncatula and expression analysis under abiotic stresses

Jianbo Song et al.

Summary: This study identified 11 MtTPS genes in the genome of Medicago truncatula, divided into two subfamilies, and found that five of them could be induced by drought, salt or cold stresses, providing a foundation for further research on the regulatory function of TPS genes in response to abiotic stresses.

Characterization and expression pattern of the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase and trehalose-6-phosphate phosphatase gene families in Populus

Yuhan Gao et al.

Summary: This study identified 13 PtTPS and 10 PtTPP genes in the Populus genome, divided into two subfamilies with highly conserved intron structures, and involved in plant hormone and environmental stress responses. Expression patterns of PtTPSs and PtTPPs vary under different stress and treatment conditions.
