This study presents a phytochemical investigation on the dried and nearly ripe fruits of Evodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth. and Evodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth. var. bodinieri (Dode) Huang. A total of forty-five compounds were isolated, including twenty previously unreported compounds. This research may have chemotaxonomic significance within the genus.
Based on the previous research of Evodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth. var. officinalis (Dode) Huang, this paper is a further phytochemical study on dried and nearly ripe fruits of Evodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth. and Evodia rutaecarpa (Juss.) Benth. var. bodinieri (Dode) Huang. And forty-five compounds were isolated, including twenty indole quinazoline alkaloids (11-30), ten quinolone alkaloids (1-10), seven limonins (31-37), and four fla-vonoids (39-42), and compounds 5-7, 9, 10, 13, 15-18, 22, 24, 28-30, 36 and 37 were obtained from these species for the first time. Meanwhile, compounds 11, 21, 31 were identified as the marker component of this medicinal plant, and compounds 2, 8, 19, 21, 24, 26, 27, 31 and 36 were isolated from Evodia rutaecarpa and E. rutaecarpa var. bodinieri. This may have chemotaxonomic significance within this genus.
