Stellar and substellar companions from Gaia EDR3 Proper-motion anomaly and resolved common proper-motion pairs

Pierre Kervella et al.

Summary: The multiplicity survey is significantly improved by using a combination of the PMa, CPM, and RUWE indicators, which enhances the exhaustivity of companion detection and improves accuracy. The detection of CPM companions for bright stars provides a useful proxy for estimating their distance with higher accuracy than the HIPPARCOS method.

A. G. A. Brown et al.

Summary: Gaia EDR3 is the early installment of the third data release from the Gaia project, providing astrometry and photometry for 1.8 billion sources brighter than magnitude 21, along with radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The data processing precision and homogeneity have significantly improved compared to the previous version, with additional information on celestial bodies and an updated celestial reference frame.

The Swan: Data-driven Inference of Stellar Surface Gravities for Cool Stars from Photometric Light Curves

Maryum Sayeed et al.

Summary: This study presents a new methodology called The Swan for deriving stellar surface gravity from Kepler light curves with high precision. By combining log g measurements with Gaia radii, empirical masses for subgiant and mainsequence stars were derived, demonstrating a mean absolute deviation precision across evolutionary states.

HD 76920 b pinned down: A detailed analysis of the most eccentric planetary system around an evolved star

C. Bergmann et al.

Summary: This study presents 63 new multi-site radial velocity measurements of the K1III giant HD 76920, confirming the highly eccentric nature of the known planet orbiting it. By combining measurements from different instruments, the highly eccentric system was characterized further, showing a minimum planet mass of 3.13 M-J and an orbital period of 415.891 d. The analysis also revealed the planet's close distance to its host star at periastron and the lack of significant orbital decay in the near future.
