Probiotic yeast enhances growth performance of rohu (Labeo rohita) through upgrading hematology, and intestinal microbiota and morphology

Nusrat Jahan et al.

Summary: Probiotics, specifically the brewer's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, have been shown to significantly improve growth performance, feed utilization, and hematobiochemical indices in rohu compared to a control diet. There were noticeable variations in intestinal microbiota and morphology between the treated and control diet groups. These findings suggest that S. cerevisiae can effectively enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients in L. rohita through improving gut microbiota and morphometry.

Chromium Supplementation in Diet Enhances Growth and Feed Utilization of Striped Catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus)

Shahana Akter et al.

Summary: Chromium supplementation at 2.82 mg/kg in the diets of striped catfish can promote growth and improve feed utilization. However, higher chromium levels may suppress growth and affect hemato-biochemical parameters in the fish.

Tilapia Farming in Bangladesh: Adaptation to Climate Change

Mohammad Lutfar Rahman et al.

Summary: Aquaculture plays a critical role in Bangladesh for food security, livelihoods, and income, but faces challenges from climate change. Due to the impacts of climate change on fish production, tilapia farming is suggested as a possible adaptation strategy, given tilapia's tolerance to various environmental conditions. Collaboration with key stakeholders and institutional support are essential for successful tilapia farming adaptation strategies.

Assessing the impacts of in-feed probiotic on the growth performance and health condition of pangasius (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) in a farm trial

Mohammad Mahfujul Haque et al.

Summary: The use of in-feed probiotics in different growth stages has positive effects on growth performance, hematological parameters, gut microbial content, and morphological structures of pangasius fish, as well as increasing fry survival rate. The treated groups showed significantly higher growth performances, survival rates, and levels of specific hematological parameters compared to the control group, indicating the potential benefits of using probiotics in nurseries for pangasius.
