Proteomics analysis reveals a critical role for the WSSV immediate-early protein IE1 in modulating the host prophenoloxidase system

Chuanqi Wang et al.

Summary: White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a threat to global shrimp aquaculture. The study found that the immediate-early protein IE1 of WSSV is involved in virus-host interactions. By identifying the interacting proteins of IE1, it was discovered that these proteins are involved in various signaling pathways. Further research revealed that IE1 regulates the shrimp prophenoloxidase (proPO) system.

MAPKKK15 gene from shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei is transcribed in larva development stages and contributes to WSSV pathogenesis

Sheng Wang et al.

Summary: LvMAPKKK15, a homolog of MAPKKK15 in shrimp, is abundantly expressed in early development stages and in eyestalk, nerve, and hemocytes. It responds to challenges of Poly (I: C) and WSSV, and its knockdown leads to decreased sensitivity to WSSV infection in shrimp. LvMAPKKK15 can up-regulate WSSV immediate early genes and suppress anti-viral factors LvVago1-5, indicating its role in WSSV pathogenesis.

Toll receptor 2 (Toll2) positively regulates antibacterial immunity but promotes white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) infection in shrimp

Wei Qiu et al.

Summary: The Toll2 receptor in Pacific white shrimp plays an important role in both antibacterial immunity and antiviral immunity. Silencing Toll2 receptor increases susceptibility to Vibrio parahaemolyticus, but reduces viral load and inhibits WSSV infection in shrimp. Toll2 may promote WSSV infection by affecting the expression of antimicrobial peptides.

Wnt11 positively regulates immune defense against Vibrio parahaemolyticus but promotes white spot syndrome virus infection in Litopenaeus vannamei

Zi-ang Wang et al.

Summary: Research on the Pacific white shrimp LvWnt11 gene show that it plays different roles in immune responses against Vibrio parahaemolyticus and white spot syndrome virus infections. LvWnt11 regulates expression of various immune-related factors and may help to uncover immune mechanisms in crustaceans.

Human SLC15A4 is crucial for TLR-mediated type I interferon production and mitochondrial integrity

Toshihiko Kobayashi et al.

Summary: SLC15A4 is a crucial amino acid transporter that plays a significant role in regulating inflammatory responses and autophagy, genetically associated with inflammatory diseases like SLE and colitis. Research has shown that SLC15A4 plays a critical role in mediating inflammatory signaling through TLR7/8/9 and is important for maintaining autophagy processes.

Solute carrier family 12 member 8 impacts the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma cells by activating TLR/NLR signaling pathway

LinWei Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that SLC12A8 is upregulated in breast carcinoma, with high levels associated with a poorer prognosis and a positive correlation with the TLR/NLR signaling pathway. Functional experiments revealed that SLC12A8 promotes cell viability, invasiveness, and motility in breast carcinoma cells by activating the TLR/NLR signaling pathway.
