Computational investigation of the hexagonal honeycomb adsorption reactor for cooling applications

Giorgos Papakokkinos et al.

Summary: This study investigates the hexagonal honeycomb adsorption reactor design in adsorption cooling technology, examining the effects of various geometric and operational parameters on Specific Cooling Power (SCP) and Coefficient of Performance (COP). The results indicate that factors such as cell inradius, height, and fin thickness have a significant impact on system performance.

Performance of a mechanically-driven loop heat pipe heat recovery system

Shuailing Liu et al.

Summary: A mechanically-driven loop heat pipe heat recovery system was proposed to match the varying fresh air load in an energy recovery ventilation unit. The prototype could operate in different modes, and the heat transfer characteristics were studied under winter and summer conditions. The results showed that the composite system had higher temperature effectiveness and EER compared to other modes, and it could switch operating modes to improve the year-round performance of the system.

Summary: This study investigates the cooling performance of Maxsorb-III activated carbon composites synthesized with the additives of H25 Graphene nanoplatelets, 1-Hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluormethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquid with polyvinyl alcohol for R32 refrigerant-based adsorption cooling applications. The kinetic characteristics and heat of adsorption assessments are evaluated, and a holistic comparison of the cooling performances of the composites is proposed.

Effect of coating thickness, binder and cycle time in adsorption cooling applications

Xuan Quang Duong et al.

Summary: The study conducted numerical analysis to investigate the impact of a coating technique on the efficiency of an adsorption cooling system, compared to a fully-filled grain configuration. The results showed that the coating configuration with an optimal thickness of 0.2-0.5 mm and a shorter cycle time led to improved performance, despite a slight decrease in coefficient of performance.

Optimum loading of aluminum additive particles in unconsolidated beds of finned flat-tube heat exchangers in an adsorption cooling system

Meysam Khatibi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of employing aluminum additive particles in an unconsolidated adsorbent bed on the performance of an adsorption cooling system, finding 0.3 mm as the optimal particle diameter for identical particle sizes. Results showed that for fixed fin depth of 20 mm, fin heights of 8 mm and 20 mm corresponded to optimal additive volume fractions of 15% and 20%, respectively.
