FeMn@HZSM-5 capsule catalyst for light olefins direct synthesis via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis: Studies on depressing the CO2 formation

Faen Song et al.

Summary: The capsule catalyst FeMn@HZSM-5 was shown to effectively reduce CO2 formation and increase olefins selectivity in Fischer-Tropsch to olefins (FTO) reaction, outperforming other physically mixing catalysts. The HZSM-5 shell played a key role in affecting H2O diffusion and suppressing the water-gas shift reaction.

Designing silica-coated CoMn-based catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis to olefins with low CO2 emission

Tiejun Lin et al.

Summary: A silica-coated CoMn-based catalyst was designed to suppress CO2 production and enhance olefins selectivity, showing improved stability in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. The silica-coating reduces H2O adsorption and promotes fast transfer, while the sodium promoter counteracts H2 enrichment and restrains CH4 formation and olefins hydrogenation. This work provides an effective strategy to enhance carbon efficiency in FTO process.

Cobalt Carbide Nanocatalysts for Efficient Syngas Conversion to Value-Added Chemicals with High Selectivity

Tiejun Lin et al.

Summary: Syngas conversion to olefins using Co2C nanoprisms as catalysts shows promising potential for industrial applications by significantly increasing olefins selectivity while decreasing methane production under mild reaction conditions. The unique catalytic behavior of Co2C nanoprisms deviates from traditional FT process and presents a critical step towards efficient production of chemicals. Extensive exploration of the underlying mechanism and the use of various spectroscopic and microscopic investigations contribute to the advancements in Co2C nanocatalyst development.

Theoretical Insights into Morphologies of Alkali-Promoted Cobalt Carbide Catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

Chi Zhang et al.

Summary: Co2C catalysts are structure-sensitive during Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, with nanoprisms exposing the (101) and (020) facets showing superior performance. Alkali metal promoters benefit the formation and stabilization of Co2C nanoprisms, enhancing the preferential exposure of active surfaces for Fischer-Tropsch to olefins (FTO). Insights from theoretical work provide a rational understanding of the promotional effect of alkali metals on Co2C catalyst morphology, aiding the design of more efficient FTO catalysts.

Theoretical Insights into the Formation Mechanism of Methane, Ethylene and Methanol in Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis at Co2C Surfaces

Jeremie Zaffran et al.

Summary: The study aims to reveal the dominant reaction pathways of three products (methane, ethylene, and methanol) on different facets of Co2C in FTS, finding that methane and ethylene share the same determining states in competition. The results suggest the surface is fully covered with CO at the steady state, emphasizing the importance of including adsorbate-adsorbate interactions in future studies.
