Geological storage of CO2 and acid gases dissolved at surface in production water

J. K. Pearce et al.

Summary: The traditional method of geological CO2 storage involves injecting CO2 into a high permeability reservoir capped by a low permeability seal. Another method involves injecting CO2 dissolved in water, which can enhance storage security. Geochemical modeling on different reservoir rocks indicated the potential for both mineral trapping and dissolution trapping of CO2 over time.

Exploring the structural and optoelectronic properties of natural insulating phlogopite in van der Waals heterostructures

Alisson R. Cadore et al.

Summary: Naturally occurring van der Waals crystals, such as the phlogopite mineral explored in this study, have attracted significant interest in the nanomaterial research field. The researchers conducted a high throughput characterization of phlogopite and discovered its stable nature, easy obtainability, atomically flat surface, and lower bandgap in monolayers and few-layers. They also investigated the presence of iron impurities in natural phlogopite, which affected its bandgap. Furthermore, the researchers successfully combined phlogopite crystals with 1L-WS2 to create ultrathin van der Waals heterostructures, showing enhanced optical quality.

Using a natural chlorite as catalyst in chemical recycling of waste plastics: Hydrolytic depolymerization of poly-[bisphenol A carbonate] promoted by clinochlore

Eugenio Quaranta et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of natural clay mineral as a catalyst for the chemical valorization of poly-[bisphenol A carbonate] wastes. It was found that the mineral promoted depolymerization of the waste material effectively and achieved selective regeneration of the monomer. Factors such as temperature, catalyst loading, and H2O/PC weight ratio significantly influenced the productivity of the process.

Summary: This study on graphene and MoS2 homojunctions reveals sub-100 nm wide charge oscillations and two different doping zones, indicating imperfect deposition of the two-dimensional layer on the substrate. The results provide fine details of the homojuctions, crucial for the development of better electronic and optoelectronic devices.

Application of imidazole modified clinochlore for adsorption of ibuprofen residues from polluted water: preparation, characterization, kinetic and thermodynamic studies

Arezoo Mehdikhani et al.

Summary: The study assessed the potential of imidazole modified clinochlore as a new adsorbent for removing Ibuprofen from polluted water. Characterization studies confirmed the convenience of Im@clin for adsorption, and the adsorption capacity was evaluated under different conditions. The thermodynamic parameters showed that the process of IBP adsorption by Im@clin is endothermic, spontaneous, and entropy derived.

Electrical and optical properties of transition metal dichalcogenides on talc dielectrics

Darren Nutting et al.

Summary: Talc dielectric materials may serve as a promising alternative for high quality dielectric materials in future van der Waals devices. The study shows that talc-based TMDC transistors exhibit small hysteresis and negligible leakage current, while talc also demonstrates high optical performance for TMDC monolayers.
