From nonlinear micromorphic to nonlinear micropolar shell theory

A. Norouzzadeh et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the complete nonlinear model of micropolar theory for shell-type materials, utilizing a three-dimensional kinematic model and Lagrangian description of micromorphic theory. The developed micropolar theory is capable of investigating physical behavior in cases of large elastic macro-deformations, unlike previous models. The proposed isogeometric analysis method with standard base functions helps prevent locking issues in low-order finite element analysis of thin shells, and the developed micropolar shell model contributes to the literature by capturing large macro and micro-deformations.
