Hydrophobic composite foams based on nanocellulose-sepiolite for oil sorption applications

Amaret Sanguanwong et al.

Summary: TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers were assembled with fibrous clay sepiolite to enhance the compressive strength of foams. The resulting composite foams showed low apparent density, high porosity, hydrophobicity suitable for oil sorption, and high oil sorption capacity when tested with olive and motor oils as models.

Aramid nanofibers reinforced polyvinyl alcohol/tannic acid hydrogel with improved mechanical and antibacterial properties for potential application as wound dressing

Yuqing Guo et al.

Summary: A novel polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/tannic acid (TA) hydrogel with aramid nanofibers (ANFs) as reinforcement was successfully fabricated, showing excellent mechanical properties and broad-spectrum antibacterial abilities against common bacteria. This hydrogel has potential applications as wound dressing due to its low cytotoxicity and shape memory properties.
