Active ozone removal technologies for a safe indoor environment: A comprehensive review

Marzieh Namdari et al.

Summary: Ozone is a critical air pollutant, and catalytic decomposition technologies, particularly MnOx-based catalysts, show high efficiency and durability in removing ozone. These catalysts have advantages such as low cost, high catalytic activity, and the ability to decompose ozone to oxygen at room temperature.

To enhance water resistance for catalytic ozone decomposition by fabricating H2O adsorption-site in OMS-2 tunnels

Wei Hong et al.

Summary: An innovative Li-K-OMS-2 catalyst with specific non-oxygen vacancy sites was reported for improved water resistance in ozone decomposition applications. This catalyst showed superior performance with only a 10% decrease in ozone conversion after 6 hours of reaction under high humidity conditions, outperforming currently documented MnO2-based catalysts. The findings represent a critical step towards the rational design and synthesis of high water-resistant catalysts for ozone decomposition.

Role of water on ozonation of cinnamaldehyde to benzaldehyde under Ca (OH)2 catalysis: A combined in situ DRIFTS and DFT study

Xuan Luo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the role of water in the cinnamaldehyde ozonation to benzaldehyde under Ca(OH)2 catalysis using both experimental and theoretical methods. Water was found to promote ozonide decomposition and .OH formation, leading to changes in the ozonation mechanism and a decrease in benzaldehyde selectivity.

A novel γ-like MnO2 catalyst for ozone decomposition in high humidity conditions

Zhenghao Xu et al.

Summary: A novel catalyst with gamma-like MnO2 structure was synthesized and showed good stability and high efficiency in ozone conversion under high humidity. The number and hydrophilicity of oxygen vacancies were proved to be determinants of the first-order reaction rate constant.

Removing the effects of meteorological factors on changes in nitrogen dioxide and ozone concentrations in China from 2013 to 2020

Changqing Lin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of meteorological factors on nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) concentrations in China during the summer from 2013 to 2020. The results showed significant reductions in O3 concentrations in eastern and central China after removing major meteorological effects. Contrasting trends in NO2 and O3 concentrations suggest different O3 formation regimes in different regions, indicating the importance of considering meteorological effects in understanding long-term O3 variations.

Ozone Decomposition by a Manganese-Organic Framework over the Entire Humidity Range

Zhi-Bing Sun et al.

Summary: Ground-level ozone is a major airborne pollutant harmful to human health and ecosystems. The design of high-performance ozone elimination catalysts suitable for varying air compositions, especially water vapor content, remains challenging. ZZU-281, a new manganese-based metal organic framework, shows efficient ozone decomposition over a wide humidity range and possesses unique open channels and water stability.

Steam-created grain boundaries for methane C-H activation in palladium catalysts

Weixin Huang et al.

Summary: The study showed that high-temperature steam pretreatment can enhance the mass-specific reaction rate for carbon-hydrogen (C-H) activation in methane oxidation on palladium catalysts. Experimental and theoretical methods demonstrated that crystal twinning increased grain boundary density, leading to higher reactivity.
