Insights into the synergistic role of catalytic ceramic membranes for ozone and peroxymonosulfate activation towards effective recalcitrant micropollutant degradation and mineralization

The study also identified reactive oxygen species and tested the robustness of the system using real water matrices.

Efficient removal of organic pollutants by a Co/N/S-doped yolk-shell carbon catalyst via peroxymonosulfate activation

Summary: A dual-shelled Co, N, and S codoped hollow carbon nanocages catalyst was successfully developed and showed excellent catalytic performance for various organic pollutants, achieving almost complete removal of 4-NP within 20 minutes. The catalyst exhibited good stability, reusability, and degradation efficacy through both radical and nonradical pathways involving sulfate radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and singlet oxygen as primary reactive species. The study suggests that novel multi heteroatom-doped catalysts with complex structures can be effective for environmental remediation.

Co/N co-doped carbonaceous polyhedron as efficient peroxymonosulfate activator for degradation of organic pollutants: Role of cobalt

Summary: The study synthesized a Co/N co-doped polyhedron carbonaceous catalyst (Co@N-C-2) with abundant mesoporous, high graphitization degree, and cobalt content via the pyrolysis of core-shell MOFs composite (ZIF-8@ZIF-67). The two cobalt species in Co@N-C-2 were found to play different roles in PMS activation, with Co-N-x serving as active sites for the O-1(2) evolution pathway and Co NPs enhancing electron transfer pathway. The catalyst showed superior catalytic performance in removing organic pollutants and high resistance to inorganic anions and natural organic matter.

Preferential Growth of the Cobalt (200) Facet in Co@N-C for Enhanced Performance in a Fenton-like Reaction

Summary: In this study, a series of Co@N-C materials were synthesized using nitrates as templates to control the preferential growth of the cobalt (200) facet, exhibiting excellent activity for Fenton-like degradation of bisphenol A. These materials showed higher stability and faster transformation rates, while singlet oxygen was found to play a dominant role in the degradation process.
