Enhanced hydrogen generation by reverse spillover effects over bicomponent catalysts

Zhe Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, the promotion functions of the reverse spillover effect in the ammonia borane hydrolysis reaction were proven by constructing a NiO/Al2O3/Pt bicomponent catalyst. In situ XANES results revealed that H species generated at NiO sites spill across the support to the Pt sites reversely, leading to enhanced hydrogen generation rates. The study suggests that understanding the reverse effects can contribute to clarifying catalytic mechanisms and designing efficient catalysts for hydrogen generation reactions.

Architecture control and electronic structure engineering over Ni-based nitride nanocomposite for boosting ammonia borane dehydrogenation

Ping Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared a catalyst with excellent catalytic performance for AB dehydrogenation by synthesizing Co-doped Ni nitride nanoparticles anchored on reduced graphene oxide nanosheets. The catalyst exhibited high turnover frequency and low activation energy, attributed to the full exposure of active sites and favorable mass transfer.

Tandem In2O3-Pt/Al2O3 catalyst for coupling of propane dehydrogenation to selective H2 combustion

Huan Yan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that growing In2O3 over Pt/Al2O3 using atomic layer deposition results in a nanostructure that kinetically couples domains through surface hydrogen atom transfer, improving the selective oxidative dehydrogenation of propane. In contrast, other nanostructures, such as Pt on In2O3 or Pt mixed with In2O3, were unable to organize the reactions effectively, resulting in more propane combustion.

Control of the single atom/nanoparticle ratio in Pd/C catalysts to optimize the cooperative hydrogenation of alkenes

C. Rivera-Carcamo et al.

Summary: This study reveals a structure/activity correlation in Pd/C catalysts for alkene hydrogenation, showing that highly dispersed Pd nanoparticles, surface defects, and oxygenated groups on the support play crucial roles in the catalytic process. A combination of these structural characteristics allows cooperative catalysis between Pd-NP and Pd-SA, leading to the formation of highly active Pd-SA-H species for alkene hydrogenation and isomerization. Additionally, an efficient method to control the ratio between Pd-SA and Pd-NP in Pd/C catalysts has been developed, enabling the design of stable and highly active catalysts with a rational use of precious metals.
