Acute Compartment Syndrome Following Thrombolysis For Acute Lower Limb Ischemia

Grip Olivia et al.

Summary: This study found that patients developing ACS after ALI generally present with more severe preoperative ischemia and a higher incidence of occluded popliteal artery aneurysms. In the first year after thrombolysis, the ACS group had a higher amputation rate, but the differences in amputation-free survival rates leveled out in the long term.

Contrast-Associated Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with and without Diabetes Mellitus Undergoing Computed Tomography Angiography and Local Thrombolysis for Acute Lower Limb Ischemia

Talha Butt et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate if patients with diabetes had a higher risk of developing contrast-associated acute kidney injury during CT angiography and local continuous thrombolysis. While diabetes patients had worse renal function at discharge, there was no significant difference in the frequency of contrast-associated acute kidney injury compared to non-diabetes patients. The gram-iodine dose/eGFR ratio may be associated with an increased risk of contrast-associated acute kidney injury.

Performance of Computed Tomography Angiography Before Revascularization Is Associated With Higher Amputation-Free Survival in Rutherford IIb Acute Lower Limb Ischaemia

Ebba Saphir et al.

Summary: For patients with Rutherford IIb acute lower limb ischemia, performing CTA prior to revascularization may be associated with a decreased risk of combined major amputation/mortality and a higher amputation-free survival after revascularization. CTA appears to provide valuable guidance in selecting appropriate candidates for revascularization and the choice of technique.

Risk Factors for Fasciotomy After Revascularization for Acute Lower Limb Ischaemia

Emil Karonen et al.

Summary: The study found that female patients had a lower risk of requiring fasciotomy after revascularization, but subsequently had a higher risk of major amputation/mortality, possibly due to inferior revascularization outcomes and underdiagnosis of ACS. Patients with anemia and female gender had a lower risk.
