Summary: The most common replacement heart valve design currently is the 'bioprosthetic' heart valve (BHV), which has advantages such as no need for permanent anti-coagulation therapy and quiet operation. However, the thinner TAVR leaflets may have decreased durability due to increased mechanical demands. Computational predictive simulations have the potential to improve the TAVR development process.
