Microwave-Assisted Extraction as a Green Technology Approach to Recover Polyphenols from Castanea sativa Shells

Summary: This study utilized microwave-assisted extraction to recover polyphenols from chestnut shells and evaluated the extracts for their antioxidant and antiradical activities. The best extract was found to have high scavenging efficiency on NO and HOCl, as well as inhibitory effects on lipase activity. These findings suggest the potential use of polyphenol-rich chestnut shell extracts as active ingredients in the food and nutraceutical industries.
