Summary: Exposure to chronic heat stress during prenatal and postnatal development in dairy calves can lead to lower immune system function, while heat stress abatement may benefit humoral immunity against microbial pathogens. The findings suggest that providing heat stress abatement in early life stages of dairy calves may modulate the serotonin synthesis pathway, improving immune system development.
