Peroxidase-like activity of Ru-N-C nanozymes in colorimetric assay of acetylcholinesterase activity

Summary: In this study, Ru-N-C nanozymes with abundant active sites were prepared by pyrolyzing Ru(acac)(3) trapped zeolitic-imidazolate-frameworks (Ru(acac)(3)@ZIF-8). A novel biosensing system with explicit mechanism was strategically fabricated for sensitively determining acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and tacrine, showing great potential in real matrix applications. Additionally, INH and IMPLICATION-AND logic gates were rationally constructed based on the proposed colorimetric sensor, providing a sustainable and effective avenue for developing novel biosensors.
