Multistage oscillators for ultra-low frequency vibration isolation and energy harvesting

Tao Yang et al.

Summary: This article investigates the geometric nonlinearity and electromechanical coupling of multistage oscillators for ultra-low frequency vibration isolation and energy harvesting (VTEH). By introducing nonlinearity and mechanical multistage coupling, the problem of ultra-low frequency is solved and efficient vibration isolation and energy harvesting are achieved.

Tuned bistable nonlinear energy sink for simultaneously improved vibration suppression and energy harvesting

Shitong Fang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a tuned bistable nonlinear energy sink (TBNES) to simultaneously improve vibration suppression and energy harvesting performance, as well as extend the operating amplitude range to low-level excitations. Through optimization of system parameters, TBNES outperforms the typical bistable nonlinear energy sink (BNES) in both vibration suppression and energy harvesting.

Vibration suppression of an elastic beam with boundary inerter-enhanced nonlinear energy sinks

Zhen Zhang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new method to suppress vibrations of elastic structures by placing an inertial nonlinear energy sink on the boundaries. By optimizing the parameters, the resonance amplitude of the elastic structure can be reduced by 98%, achieving a high vibration suppression effect.

Experimental and numerical studies of a novel track bistable nonlinear energy sink with improved energy robustness for structural response mitigation

Jingjing Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel track bistable nonlinear energy sink (track BNES) to address the energy-dependence issue in conventional NESs. The track BNES uses nonlinear restoring forces formed by track configuration to extend its functional energy range. Experimental results show that the track BNES has strong control effectiveness and robustness, demonstrating its potential as a favorable control strategy for seismic response mitigation of structures.

Theoretical and experimental study of an enhanced nonlinear energy sink

Xiao-Feng Geng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an enhanced nonlinear energy sink (E-NES) design using piecewise linear springs to enhance vibration suppression effects. The design achieves better vibration suppression effects without changing the resonance frequency of the primary system. The parameters of the piecewise spring can be optimized efficiently using the differential evolution algorithm, and experiments show that the vibration elimination efficiency of the E-NES can exceed 90%.

Bending vibration control of pipes conveying fluids by nonlinear torsional absorbers at the boundary

XiaoYe Mao et al.

Summary: In this study, a nonlinear torsional absorber is used to control bending vibration of a pipe by transferring energy to a boundary absorber. The investigation shows that the absorber has two advantages: maintaining natural characteristics and capturing pipe resonance automatically, as well as working for all natural modes. The efficiency of the absorber can be optimized by adjusting parameters such as mass and damping.
