HiDeNN-TD: Reduced-order hierarchical deep learning neural networks

Lei Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a tensor decomposition (TD) based reduced-order model of hierarchical deep-learning neural networks (HiDeNN), which combines the advantages of both HiDeNN and TD methods. The proposed HiDeNN-TD method is shown to be more accurate than finite element method (FEM) and conventional methods, with significantly fewer degrees of freedom. The paper also presents a highly efficient solution strategy called HiDeNN-PGD, which achieves a balance between accuracy and efficiency.

Predicting mechanically driven full-field quantities of interest with deep learning-based metamodels

Saeed Mohammadzadeh et al.

Summary: Using simulation to predict the mechanical behavior of heterogeneous materials has applications ranging from topology optimization to multi-scale structural analysis. However, traditional simulation methods can be computationally expensive, leading to the development of machine learning-based models for more efficient prediction. This study extends the Mechanical MNIST dataset and establishes strong baseline performance for predicting full-field quantities of interest using various deep neural network architectures.

SEM: a shallow energy method for finite deformation hyperelasticity problems

Zhangyong Liang et al.

Summary: In this work, a shallow energy method (SEM) based on radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) is proposed to handle partial differential equation problems of finite deformation hyperelasticity. The energy items are calculated through numerical integration techniques and the minimization problem is solved using the L-BFGS algorithm. The numerical results show that the proposed SEM is effective and performs well in dealing with problems of finite deformation hyperelasticity.

Mathematical foundations of FEM-cluster based reduced order analysis method and a spectral analysis algorithm for improving the accuracy

Zheng Li et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the mathematical foundations of the FEM-Cluster based reduced order Analysis method (FCA) and its improved version. The study points out that some bases of the interaction matrix may contradict the basic hypothesis and affect the accuracy of FCA. Therefore, a spectral analysis algorithm is proposed to improve the accuracy.
