The grain size effect on strain hardening and necking instability revisited from the dislocation density evolution approach

I. S. Yasnikov et al.

Summary: By revisiting the strain hardening behavior from the perspective of an analytical model based on the evolution of dislocation density with strain, the study extended the capacity of the single internal variable model to predict necking instability and re-examined the influence of grain size on flow stress. The analysis highlighted the significance of dynamic recovery in necking occurrence and emphasized the validity of using simple modeling of dislocation density evolution for predicting stress-strain behavior and necking instability onset.

The Taylor-Quinney coefficients and strain hardening of commercially pure titanium, iron, copper, and tin in high rate compression

G. C. Soares et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of adiabatic heating and strain rate on the dynamic compressive response of titanium, iron, copper, and tin. The results show that all materials have positive strain rate sensitivity and exhibit different temperature increases and deformation behaviors at high strain rates. Additionally, copper and tin demonstrate distinct material characteristics under high strain rates.
