Is it feasible to outsource the remote monitoring of implantable cardiac defibrillators in a large tertiary hospital?

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the workflow and workload of a telecardiology center and assess the feasibility of outsourcing the service. The results showed that outsourcing would only reduce the workload by a small percentage due to the majority of time spent on solving clinical problems. It is necessary to provide sufficient resources and optimize communication protocols to manage the workload of the remote monitoring team effectively.
