Structure-activity relationship of Pt catalyst on engineered ceria-alumina support for CO oxidation

Shaohua Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Pt catalyst was prepared on a CeO2/Al2O3 support through a unique deposition strategy, demonstrating excellent thermal stability and low-temperature CO oxidation activity. The stable Pt single sites were transformed into highly active Pt clusters, resulting in efficient CO oxidation at low temperatures. The identification of active sites revealed that Pt cluster step and terrace sites, as well as Pt-CeO2 interfaces, played crucial roles in the catalyst's activity.

Mesoporous Rh nanoparticles as efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction

Jiyoung Kim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the high electrocatalytic performance of mesoporous rhodium nanoparticles (MRNs) for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in an acidic media. The MRNs exhibit lower overpotential, smaller Tafel slope, enhanced exchange current density, and excellent stability, attributed to their uniform mesoporous morphology and robust structure.

The high activity of mesoporous Ga-SiO2 catalysts in the upgrading of glycerol to solketal explained by in-depth characterization

Alvise Vivian et al.

Summary: Mesoporous Ga-silicates were prepared using a sustainable and continuous aerosol synthesis procedure, showing record activity in the synthesis of solketal. The materials displayed outstanding turnover frequencies and selectivity, outcompeting other reference metallosilicate catalysts reported in literature. The most active catalyst showed stability under the selected reaction conditions through multiple catalytic cycles.

The origin of the high electrochemical activity of pseudo-amorphous iridium oxides

Marine Elmaalouf et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that short-range ordering is the key factor driving activity independently of the initial oxidation state and composition of the calcined iridium oxides. By producing iridium-based mixed oxides, the electronic processes can be decoupled from the structural transformation, allowing for higher electrochemical activity.

Nanoporous ultra-high-entropy alloys containing fourteen elements for water splitting electrocatalysis

Ze-Xing Cai et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the facile synthesis of nanoporous ultra-high-entropy alloys (np-UHEAs) with hierarchical porosity via dealloying. These alloys, containing up to 14 elements, exhibit high catalytic activities and electrochemical stabilities in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acidic media, outperforming commercial Pt/graphene and IrO2 catalysts. These results provide valuable insights for the selection of elements as catalysts for various applications.
