Interface-Driven Assembly of Pentacene/MoS2 Lateral Heterostructures

Francesco Tumino et al.

Summary: Mixed-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures formed by pentacene molecules and 2D MoS2 nanocrystals on Au(111) substrate have been investigated. The molecular self-assembly and weak interfacial coupling between pentacene and MoS2 at the interface have been observed, preserving the electronic signature of MoS2 edge states.

Giant persistent photoconductivity in monolayer MoS2 field-effect transistors

A. George et al.

Summary: Research shows that ultraviolet light exposure induces persistent photoconductivity in monolayer MoS2, leading to a significant increase in conductivity. Unlike previous studies attributing the origin of photoconductivity to external factors, this study demonstrates that the effect mainly arises from intrinsic properties of monolayer MoS2.

Energy-Level Alignment at Interfaces between Transition-Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers and Metal Electrodes Studied with Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy

Pavel A. Markeev et al.

Summary: The energy-level alignment at interfaces between various transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers and metal electrodes of different work functions was studied. MoS2 exhibited Fermi-level pinning, while WSe2/metal junctions behaved according to the Schottky-Mott limit, with WS2 and MoSe2 exhibiting intermediate behavior.

Electrically controlled emission from singlet and triplet exciton species in atomically thin light-emitting diodes

Andrew Y. Joe et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates electrically tunable spin singlet and triplet exciton emissions in atomically aligned transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructures. By utilizing interlayer tunneling current and magnetic fields, the spin configurations of light-emitting excitons are confirmed. The electroluminescence of singlet and triplet excitons can be switched with a ratio of 10:1 by adjusting gates and interlayer bias voltage. These findings offer a pathway for optoelectronic devices that can configure spin and valley quantum states independently.
