Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks with hea Topology

Zonglong Li et al.

Summary: 3D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a new type of crystalline organic porous material with great potential in gas storage applications. This study reports a novel 3D COF topology, expanding the family of 3D COFs and providing new possibilities for efficient gas storage material design. The synthesized 3D-hea-COFs exhibit excellent adsorption performance for H-2, CO2, and CH4, attributed to their complex pore structures and fully exposed active sites.

Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Framework with ceq Topology

Zonglong Li et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D-COFs) are designable porous materials with unique structural characteristics and porous features. This study introduces a new 3D-COF with the ceq topology, utilizing a D-3h-symmetric triangular prism vertex and a planar triangular linker. The as-synthesized COF shows a twofold-interpenetrated structure with a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 1148.6 m(2) g(-1) and efficient absorption of CO2, CH4, and H2. This work provides new building units and approaches for further exploration of 3D-COFs.

Triptycene-based three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks with stp topology of honeycomb structure

Yuancheng Wang et al.

Summary: This study introduces the synthesis of two new 3D COFs using triptycene as core building blocks, with rare stp topology and 6+4 linking mode. The non-interpenetrated structure of Trip-COF 1 leads to a pore size of 4.0 nm, while interpenetration occurs in Trip-COF 2 due to the extended size of the linkage. The rigid 3D COFs also exhibit honeycomb nanochannel structures with adjustable pore sizes.
