Second-opinion reads in prostate MRI: added value of subspecialty interpretation and review at multidisciplinary rounds

Jessica L. Li et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of second-opinion review of multiparametric prostate MRI for cancer detection by a multidisciplinary review board at a tertiary care center. The results showed variability in interpretation between community and tertiary care center, with higher concordance rates for higher grade and peripheral zone lesions. This highlights the importance of multidisciplinary review and continued education in improving accuracy of prostate cancer detection.

Comparison of Prostate Imaging and Reporting Data System V2.0 and V2.1 for Evaluation of Transition Zone Lesions: A 5-Reader 202-Patient Analysis

Nancy Kim et al.

Summary: This study compared the distribution, interreader agreement, and diagnostic performance of PI-RADS v2.0 and v2.1 for transition zone (TZ) lesions. The results showed poor interreader agreement and no improvement in diagnostic performance, indicating a need for further refinement in the evaluation of TZ lesions.

Comparison of Biparametric and MultiparametricMRIfor Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer Detection WithPI-RADSVersion 2.1

Tsutomu Tamada et al.

Summary: Background biparametric MRI (bpMRI) without dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) offers advantages of eliminating adverse events, shortening examination time, and reducing costs compared to multiparametric MRI (mpMRI). This study aimed to compare the interobserver reliability and diagnostic performance of bpMRI and mpMRI for detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPC) using the Prostate Imaging and Reporting Data System version 2.1 (PI-RADS v2.1). Results showed comparable interobserver reliability and diagnostic performance between bpMRI and mpMRI for detecting csPC with PI-RADS v2.1.

PI-RADS Versions 2 and 2.1: Interobserver Agreement and Diagnostic Performance in Peripheral and Transition Zone Lesions Among Six Radiologists

Rajesh Bhayana et al.

Summary: This study compared the interobserver agreement of PI-RADS v2 and v2.1 in the prostate peripheral and transition zones, and conducted a pilot comparison of their diagnostic performance in these zones. The results showed that v2.1 improved interobserver agreement in the peripheral zone but not in the transition zone, with improved diagnostic performance for experienced readers in the peripheral zone. Specific modifications in v2.1 yielded mixed results, suggesting areas for further improvement in interobserver agreement and performance.
