Titanium nitride, TiXN(1-X), coatings deposited by HiPIMS for corrosion resistance and wear protection properties

Anas Ghailane et al.

Summary: The nitrogen content significantly affects the structural, mechanical, and corrosion properties of titanium nitride coatings deposited by HiPIMS. Increasing nitrogen flow leads to larger grain size and hardness variation with a maximum. The coatings show excellent protection efficiency in acidic media compared to uncoated samples.

High deposition rate films prepared by reactive HiPIMS

P. Mares et al.

Summary: HiPIMS technology allows for the preparation of hard and defect-free coatings with high current density, but comes with a drawback of lower deposition rate. Research shows that reactive HiPIMS can achieve higher deposition rates compared to mid-frequency pulsed dc magnetron sputtering, due to a lower degree of target poisoning.
