Analysis of Excess Deaths During the COVID-19 Pandemic in the State of Florida

Excess Mortality Associated With COVID-19 by Demographic Group: Evidence From Florida and Ohio

Summary: This study analyzed COVID-19-related all-cause excess deaths in Florida and Ohio, finding that although the majority of excess deaths occurred in older age groups, the observed-to-expected death ratios were also high among younger age groups, especially among adults aged 20-49. Additionally, an especially elevated ratio of observed-to-expected deaths among Black adults was found in Florida.
