International vs. national female tennis players: a comparison of upper and lower extremity functional asymmetries

Laurent Chapelle et al.

Summary: This study examined whole-body functional asymmetry in international and national female tennis players and found significant asymmetry in both groups. National players had higher functional asymmetry in the single leg forward hop test. Individual asymmetry monitoring is needed for lower extremity dominance across different tests.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TENNIS SERVE VELOCITY AND SELECT PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Matthew J. Hayes et al.

Summary: This study revealed significant positive correlations between peak serve speed in elite adolescent tennis players and factors such as body height, strength training performance (such as IMTP), and CMJ height. Internal and external rotation strength were also found to be related to serve speed.

Longitudinal development of 5m sprint performance in young female tennis players

Tamara Kramer et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the longitudinal development of sprint performance in young female tennis players, finding differences between elite and sub-elite players. Sprint performance seemed to depend on chronological age, body size given by height, and lower limb strength performance.

Prognostic Validity of Statistical Prediction Methods Used for Talent Identification in Youth Tennis Players Based on Motor Abilities

Maximilian Siener et al.

Summary: The search for talented young athletes is crucial in top-class sport, and while various performance profiles and suitable test tasks have been investigated, there are limited studies on statistical prediction methods for talent identification. This study examined the prognostic validity of four talent prediction methods, showing medium-to-high forecast accuracy. The combination of non-linear and linear methods yielded the best results, but some high-performance players remained unpredictable by any method.
