Summary: The study indicates that the normative basis provided by Public Administration traditions is inadequate for legitimizing the transition tasks assigned to government, highlighting the need for a new rationale to support societal transitions. Therefore, the proposal of transformative government as a new Public Administration tradition to legitimize government's transition tasks is presented.
