Childhood correlates of adult positive mental well-being in three British longitudinal studies

Natasha Wood et al.

Summary: The study found that childhood experiences, such as parenting, parental mental health, and socioeconomic circumstances, are important for adult mental well-being. Poorer parent-child relationships and poor parental mental health were strongly associated with poorer adult mental well-being. Socioeconomic circumstances also play a role, but to a lesser extent compared to parenting and parental mental health.
