The ASHA (Hope) Project: Testing an Integrated Depression Treatment and Economic Strengthening Intervention in Rural Bangladesh: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Alison Karasz et al.

Summary: The pilot randomized controlled trial conducted in rural Bangladesh demonstrated the high effectiveness of an integrated depression treatment and financial empowerment intervention in reducing depression symptoms and improving psycho-social outcomes among low-income women. The intervention led to a significant decrease in depression scores and improvements in tension, self-esteem, hope, social support, and participation in household economic decision-making. Further testing of the model in a larger trial is recommended for future research.

Psychotherapies for depression: a network meta-analysis covering efficacy, acceptability and long-term outcomes of all main treatment types

Pim Cuijpers et al.

Summary: The study found that various psychotherapies are effective and acceptable in treating adult depression, with few significant differences in efficacy, particularly in the acute treatment phase. For patients, the choice of treatment type may be more influenced by patient preferences and the availability of treatment types, rather than subtle differences between different psychotherapy methods.
