Towards shared prosperity in sub-Saharan Africa: How does the effect of economic integration compare to social equity policies?

Summary: This study expands the research on inclusive growth in sub-Saharan Africa by examining the effects of social equity policies and economic integration, as well as the joint effects of economic integration and resource allocation on inclusive growth. The results show that social equity policies are more significant in enhancing inclusive growth compared to economic integration. Additionally, the study finds that economic integration has a pronounced effect on inclusive growth when productive resource allocation is present.

The findings suggest that ICT skills, access, and usage promote inclusive growth in SSA, and these effects are further enhanced by financial development. The study provides policy recommendations aligned with the region's green growth agenda and efforts towards improving socioeconomic development.
