Multi-sectoral determinants of carbon emission inequality in Chinese clustering cities

Shulei Cheng et al.

Summary: The study used hierarchical cluster analysis and a decomposition approach to explore multi-sectoral determinants of carbon emission inequality in 285 prefecture-level cities in China. It was found that the emission disparity in the industrial consumption sector is the main source of emission inequalities in clustering city groups, and the emission inequality of each city group decreased in the reporting period, mainly due to changes in emissions per capita. The impact of population mobility on emission inequality was not detected.

Potential Role of Fiscal Decentralization on Interprovincial Differences in CO2 Emissions in China

Shulei Cheng et al.

Summary: Spatial differences in CO2 emissions are crucial for mitigation efforts, and fiscal decentralization in China has been found to significantly impact interprovincial differences in emissions. The variation in emissions between provincial clusters plays a key role in provincial CO2 discrepancies. Optimizing expenditure authority and improving energy efficiency at the provincial level are effective strategies for further CO2 mitigation.

Evolutionary game analysis on industrial pollution control of local government in China

Wei Fan et al.

Summary: This study develops an evolutionary game model to analyze the impact of local governments' expenditure preferences on the production behavior of industrial enterprises. The findings suggest that providing cost subsidies for clean production through environmental expenditures can effectively control industrial pollution under a stable cooperation state.

Environmental Effects of Credit Allocation Structure and Environmental Expenditures: Evidence from China

Qiming Yang et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between the allocation structure of bank credit capital, government environmental expenditures, and environmental pollution in China. Findings show a significant positive spatial autocorrelation in environmental pollution among provincial regions, and propose three hypotheses. Results indicate an inverse U-shaped relationship between environmental expenditures and pollution, as well as a significantly positive interaction effect of credit allocation structure and environmental expenditures on pollution.

An empirical analysis on spatial effects of environmental protection

Hao Yang

Summary: This study found a significant impact of environmental protection expenditure on the improvement of the ecological environment in neighboring regions, revealing a free-riding phenomenon in environmental governance. Additionally, increasing the levels of economic development, urbanization, environmental regulations, and industrial structure in the local region can effectively mitigate environmental pollution locally while possibly contributing to degradation in neighboring regions.

The carbon dioxide emissions effect of income growth, electricity consumption and electricity power crisis

Paul Adjei Kwakwa

Summary: The study found that the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis is valid for Ghana in terms of carbon emissions. While electricity consumption has an insignificant effect on carbon emissions, electricity power crisis exerts a positive effect on CO2 emissions. Additionally, industrialization and financial development increase CO2 emissions.
