Morphologically controlled cobalt oxide nanoparticles for efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Bappi Paul et al.

Summary: Electrochemical water oxidation, a crucial area of research for solving energy and environmental issues today, relies heavily on the morphological control in the synthesis of nanomaterials to design efficient electrocatalysts. In this study, spinel cobalt oxides with tunable morphology were successfully synthesized via a facile and cost-effective one-pot hydrothermal method. The Co3O4-24 h nanoparticles exhibited superior catalytic activity towards the oxygen evolution reaction in 1.0 M alkaline KOH solution, with the lowest overpotential value compared to other catalysts tested.

Cobalt oxide nanoparticle-synergized protein degradation and phototherapy for enhanced anticancer therapeutics

Xueqin Huang et al.

Summary: Manipulating protein degradation pathways such as ALP and UPS with Co3O4 NPs can enhance anticancer treatments by inducing autolysosome accumulation and inhibiting lysosomal proteolytic activity. Combining Co3O4 NPs with proteasome inhibitors also promotes the accumulation of autophagic substrates and protein ubiquitination to inhibit cancer progression. Additionally, leveraging the photothermal conversion efficiency of Co3O4 NPs enhances the anticancer efficacy of existing treatments in vitro and in vivo.
