Improvement of nutritional value, molecular weight patterns (soluble peptides), free amino acid patterns, total phenolics and antioxidant activity of fermented extrusion pretreatment rapeseed meal with Bacillus subtilis YY-1 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae YY-2

Y. Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in various properties of fermented extruded-pretreatment rapeseed meal (FERSM) with selected Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results showed that at the 48th hour of fermentation, FERSM exhibited increased levels of small peptides, total phenolics, and digestibility, while the subunit bands of 2S albumin and 12S globulin were largely absent. Furthermore, FERSM at the 48th hour demonstrated higher DPPH radical scavenging activity and increased antioxidant levels in the serum and liver of weaned rats.

Multi-Functional Development and Utilization of Rapeseed: Comprehensive Analysis of the Nutritional Value of Rapeseed Sprouts

Zelin Xiao et al.

Summary: Rapeseed sprouts are nutritionally balanced and rich in active nutrients, making them a potential functional vegetable. Germination increases the content of vitamin E and glucosinolates, which are beneficial to health. The nutritional composition of rapeseed sprouts is closely related to that of seeds, indicating great breeding potential.

Effect of fermented rapeseed meal as a feed component on the redox and immune system of pregnant sows and their offspring

Anna Czech et al.

Summary: The inclusion of dried fermented rapeseed meal in the diet of sows significantly stimulates antioxidant processes in both primiparous and multiparous sows and their piglets. This leads to enhanced immune system functioning, as evidenced by increased lymphocyte counts and IgG levels in the blood plasma. The antioxidant status of the plasma indicates that dried fermented rapeseed meal can enhance the immune system of pregnant and lactating sows, as well as their newborn offspring.

Development and Validation of Equations for Predicting the Metabolizable Energy Value of Double-Low Rapeseed Cake for Growing Pigs

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: Double-low rapeseed cake can be a cost-effective feed option for swine, providing amino acids and energy. Accurate evaluation of the energy values in different double-low rapeseed cakes is important for formulating diets economically and effectively when using them as a feed ingredient for pigs. Two experiments were conducted to develop an equation predicting metabolizable energy of double-low rapeseed cake for growing pigs. The results showed that the best-fit prediction equation can accurately estimate the metabolizable energy value of double-low rapeseed cake, without affecting pig growth performance and caloric efficiency.

Combination of fiber-degrading enzymatic hydrolysis and lactobacilli fermentation enhances utilization of fiber and protein in rapeseed meal as revealed in simulated pig digestion and fermentation in vitro

Xiaofeng Zhu et al.

Summary: The increased production of rapeseed meal has led to a focus on improving its utilization in agricultural biotechnology. In vitro studies showed that a combination of fiber-degrading enzymes and lactobacilli fermentation enhanced the nutritional value and utilization of fiber and protein in rapeseed meal. The findings indicated that rapeseed meal treated with this combination had higher digestibility, lower gas production, and improved utilization of carbohydrates and protein.

Dietary fermented rapeseed or/and soybean meal additives on performance and intestinal health of piglets

Anna Czech et al.

Summary: The study indicates that adding fermented dried soybean and fermented rapeseed meal in the diets for weaned piglets positively affects the growth performance and feed conversion rate, while also reducing mortality and incidence of diarrhea. Additionally, these fermented components have a positive impact on the microbiological composition and histology of intestines, leading to improved nutrient digestibility coefficients.
