Spatial and temporal characteristics, influencing factors and prediction models of water quality and algae in early stage of Middle Route of South-North Water Diversion Project

Zheng Jing et al.

Summary: The study analyzes the change trends and distribution characteristics of main water ecological environment elements in the main canal of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project Middle Route at the early stage. The main factors influencing algae are investigated by principal component analysis, and the relationship between environmental factors, hydrodynamic, water quality, and algae in the coupled canal-sluice system is determined. The results may provide technical support for water quality forecasting and algae risk warning in the project.

Evidence on the causes of the rising levels of CODMn along the middle route of the South-to-North Diversion Project in China: The role of algal dissolved organic matter

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: As the largest inter-basin water transfer project in the world, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project plays a crucial role in addressing the water crisis in North China. This study examines the impact of dissolved organic matter (DOM) derived from planktonic algae on the water quality along the main channel of the middle route. The findings indicate a significant correlation between algal density and COD Mn levels, suggesting that controlling algal density is essential for maintaining excellent water quality.

Comprehensive risk assessment of algae and shellfish in the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project

Yan Long et al.

Summary: A comprehensive risk evaluation system for algae and shellfish in the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project was constructed using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the weight assignment theory of criteria importance through intercriteria (CRITIC). The system was applied to the Henan section, demonstrating that the algae and shellfish are in a very safe state at the safety risk level of level I.
