Synthesis of ZnO@ZIF-8 Nanorods with Enhanced Response to VOCs

Bo Huang et al.

Summary: This study presents an effective strategy for the development of high-response volatile organic compounds (VOC) sensors by coating nano-metal oxides with metal-organic frameworks (MOF). The composite material, consisting of ZnO and ZIF-8, is able to form numerous pores and interface defects, enhancing the gas detection performance. The composite sensor exhibits optimal operating temperature at 350 degrees C and shows more than tripled response to 50 ppm gases compared to the ZnO sensor.

In2O3 Based Hybrid Materials: Interplay between Microstructure, Photoelectrical and Light Activated NO2 Sensor Properties

Abulkosim Nasriddinov et al.

Summary: In this study, organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on nanocrystalline indium oxide and ruthenium (II) heteroleptic complexes were developed for room temperature light-activated NO2 detection. The microstructure of indium oxide was found to influence the sensor characteristics and the kinetics of photoconductivity of the hybrid materials. The use of a Ru (II) heteroleptic complex as a photosensitizer enabled the hybrids to have sensitivity in the low energy region of the spectrum and be activated by a low power LED.

Pengyu Ren et al.

Summary: The indoor environment of buildings has a significant impact on people's daily life. This study focuses on the detection of harmful gases using gas sensors for the development of green buildings. The researchers designed SnO2-sensing materials with excellent structures and prepared three types of hierarchical SnO2 microspheres. Among them, the urchin-like microspheres demonstrated improved gas-sensing performance for formaldehyde gas. The structural difference of smaller nanorods was identified as the main reason for the improved gas-sensing properties.
