Synthesis and characterization of ultrasmall Cu2O nanoparticles on silica nanoparticles surface

Jagdish Prasad Prajapati et al.

Summary: In this study, a hybrid structure of SiO2-Cu2O nanocomposite was prepared by synthesizing ultrasmall cuprous oxide nanoparticles on the surface of silica nanoparticles. The SiO2 NPs were synthesized using the ammonia catalyzed Stober method, and then reacted with copper sulfate solution to form the nanocomposite. Structural, morphological, and elemental analyses were carried out using various techniques, showing the formation of FCC phase of Cu2O NPs on silica nanoparticles.
