Experimental Investigation on Bioremediation of Heavy Metal Contaminated Solution by Sporosarcina pasteurii under Some Complex Conditions

Xiaosong Huang et al.

Summary: Bioremediation of contaminated solutions has gained attention due to its wide applicability and environmental friendliness. This study investigates the efficiency and mechanism of Sporosarcina pasteurii (S. pasteurii)-based bioremediation for heavy metal contaminated solutions under various conditions. The results show that S. pasteurii effectively removes heavy metals through biomineralization and is a potential option for remedying multi-heavy-metal contaminated solutions.

Layered ammonium vanadate nanobelt as efficient adsorbents for removal of Sr2+and Cs+ from contaminated water

Heng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a layered ammonium vanadate nanobelt adsorbent was synthesized and used to remove Sr2+ and Cs+ from water. The main adsorption mechanism was ion exchange, and the adsorption capacity varied with pH. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms data followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir model, respectively.

Environmental Geochemistry and Fractionation of Cadmium Metal in Surficial Bottom Sediments and Water of the Nile River, Egypt

Zozo El-Saadani et al.

Summary: Heavy metal cadmium (Cd) pollutes the Nile River, with the highest concentration found near industrial sources. Cd's mobility poses a threat to aquatic animals and human life. Deterministic monitoring is necessary to address Cd pollution near industrial areas.

Residual Levels of Mercury, Cadmium, Lead and Arsenic in Some Commercially Key Species from Italian Coasts (Adriatic Sea): Focus on Human Health

Grazia Barone et al.

Summary: This study provides information on the potential human health risk of Hg, Cd, Pb and As exposure from consumption of Umbrina cirrosa and Sciaena umbra. The concentrations did not show significant differences between the two species, and no fish length element level-body-length relationship was observed, except for Hg. The concentrations remained below the maximum permissible limits for human consumption, except for Cd.
