The food environment in schools and their immediate vicinities associated with excess weight in adolescence: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Vivian S. S. Goncalves et al.

Summary: The food environment in schools and their immediate vicinities has a significant impact on excess weight in adolescents. Sales of food in schools or nearby are associated with higher BMI, while the availability of healthy food at school decreases the odds of obesity. Nutrition policies or programs at schools, however, do not show a significant association with obesity.

Exploring relationships between family food behaviour and well-being in single-headed and dual-headed households with adolescent children

Berta Schnettler et al.

Summary: This study found that maternal presence during children's meals positively impacts the food-related life satisfaction, family life satisfaction, and overall life satisfaction of both mothers and children, regardless of family structure. Child involvement, however, has different effects on family life satisfaction in children of single mothers compared to children of married or cohabiting mothers. Both maternal and children's life satisfaction are closely linked to satisfaction with family life and food-related life in both family structures.

Family climate in children living with parents who harmfully consume alcohol

Cinzia Iacopetti et al.

Summary: The family climate has a significant impact on children and adolescents, with living with a parent with alcohol use disorder increasing the risk of higher emotional response and more negative family relationship representations. Emotion regulation interventions may help protect children in such environments.
